Play Therapy
WHAT IS PLAY THERAPY?
Play Therapy is a non-directive, non-judgemental, non-interpretative means of working therapeutically with children who may need help in dealing with with emotional, behavioural or mental heath difficulties.
Play is a child's natural way of expressing themselves. Play Therapy provides them with the opportunity to "play out" their thoughts, feelings and difficulties in a non-directive way, in a safe environment with a caring therapist.
Many children are unable to communicate their experiences directly, especially in words. Play Therapy is a process which makes use of the child's own resources including their imagination to bring about understanding and change.
It is mainly used with children ages 3-14 b but is also effective with adolescents and adults.
